Just Some Stuff

I didn't realize that it had been so long since I posted a blog. In my last one I was saying how I was stressed about us not having extra money like in years past. Since I posted that my poor sweet husband has worked lots of overtime. Not only that but he survived another round of layoffs at work, we're very thankful he still has his job. God does always provide.

On another note, my kids were INSANE today! From the time they got up this morning they were bouncing off the walls, getting into everything, fighting, you name it. Even my 8 year old who normally is very well behaved was a handful. I'm exhausted now, worn out from the battle. I hope tomorrow is better because we're supposed to go to the zoo and I want us all to have a good time. My man has a well deserved day off (from working all that overtime) and I want to have a fun day.

$Money$

I've been totally stressing about money lately. Our savings account isn't near as full as it should be, especially for these tough economic times. With us being a one income family it's sometimes hard to squeeze out that extra cash to save, but we really need to find a way. Ideally we should be saving 10% but after close scrutiny of our monthly budget, I think we can scrape out 5%. That of course is better than nothing. We've been really blessed these last few years with lots of overtime, bonuses, raises, tax returns, stimulus checks and more but this year doesn't look as promising as the last ones. I know God will provide, he always does, it just might not be the bounty we've become accustomed to.

Sleepy?

I've had lot on my mind lately so falling asleep at night has been hard. As soon as all gets quiet I start thinking.....thinking about everything from whether or not we should invest in rental property while the value is down to what should I wear tomorrow. Sometimes I wish I had a switch to turn my brain on and off, wouldn't that be nice? Think about it, those times when you're so tired and you turn out the lights, the TV everything is quiet and then there goes your mind. It would be so great to be able to flip a switch to turn it off just like you do the lights in your bedroom. Since that's not an option one thing I've found to be helpful on nights like that and like I've been having is to go to what I like to call "my happy place". I close my eyes and take myself somewhere else that makes me feel relaxed, that brings a smile to my face. Then after I meditate on that spot for awhile I get so relaxed that I fall asleep. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what "my happy place" is because it's so out of a romance novel cheesy that I would be too embarrassed so you'll just have to find your own.

"Wacky"

Riley Grace is 5 years old and the best way to describe her is a little Jenny McCarthy. She's this gorgeous little blond but finds the most disgusting things funny. She can hang with the boys just as easily as she can play dress up and barbies with the girls. Well today she was asked to dress "wacky" for school, that was easy for her. On a normal day when she dresses herself you'll see plaids with stripes, a blue top and blue bottom that clash, you get the idea. So needless to say this idea of dressing "wacky" for school made her day. She wore her usual striped shirt, plaid skirt and polka dot tights with flowery shoes. To top it off she had two sets of pig tails in her hair.
Despite it all she looked adorable, and she was one happy girl because she got to pick out her own clothes for school today, just the way she likes to dress!

2009

I've decided to start this year off with my very own blog, I don't know if anyone will even read this but never the less, I want a place to put my thoughts and this seemed like a good one. Who knows maybe someone else out there in cyberspace will find my thoughts worth reading. Anyway here's my new years resolutions:

  • Schedule time for me (saw that on Oprah, seems like a good idea)
  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day
  • To be more health focused not weight focused (saw that on Oprah too but had already thought of it)
  • To spend more time with my kids and worry less about cleaning up after them
  • To enjoy life now, the way it is, because it could be worse.

So here we are on day seven of the new year and I'm doing pretty good......
